If the agent is not interested in giving these details, say that you have the right to know these information.  

You have to get your credit report and understand the actual rating you have. All those unpaid debts will be clearly stated in the credit report. Most unpaid debts go to collection accounts and the collection agencies focus on getting payments for the collection accounts. If you see that the agency demands more than the amount you owe, you can talk to the agent about the dispute. The debt collection agencies will call you often to discuss about the payment policies. You have to ensure that your privacy is protected by the agency and that they are not talking about your debts to other third parties. Moreover, the agency has no right to harass or humiliate you. When an agent calls you, get the information about the person talking to you and record it on paper. You have to write a summary of the conversation in the paper and keep it in your record. Most of the people who abuse the debtors will hang up when they are said that the call will be recorded.  

When the collection agencies contact you to pay your debts, talk with the creditors and identify where you have to make the payments. In most of the cases, you have to pay the collection accounts and not the creditors. Every communication with the collection agency should be in written form and you should send the letter with return receipt. This ensures that the agency has actually received the letter. If you want the collection agency to stop calling you, you have to send that in written form.
